Overview of First Aid & CPR techniques with scenarios taken from the marine/fishing industry for individuals who need a basic training level in First Aid & CPR for the marine industry. The course develops skills needed to recognize and respond to cardiovascular emergencies for Adults, CPR Level A, and other topics including choking, airway and breathing emergencies and prevention of disease transmission.
Certification length - 3 years. Transport Canada may accept the certification for 5 years.
Course length - 16 hours inclusive of rest breaks.

NOTE: Any student attending a Marine Basic First Aid requires a Canadian Document number from Transport Canada.
The CD – Canadian Document number is available from the nearest Transport Canada office at no cost but the student needs to appear in person with two pieces of ID including one that is a picture ID. Students who do not live near a Transport Canada office can have a Notary Public, Lawyer or Commissionaire of Oaths prepare a notarized statement and send that on to Transport Canada for issuance of a CD number.
