New Course Pricing effective 01 August 2007

 

 

WCB Occupational First Aid Level 1  $85.00

 

A basic one day/8 hour course covering the essential ABC's - airway, breathing and circulation. How to deal with obstructed airways, breathing distress and control bleeding. One person CPR, minor wound care and records / reports are also part of the course. A 2- year certificate will be issued at the end of the course upon successful completion.

 

Prerequisite:  16 years of age

 

WCB Occupational First Aid Level 2  $590.00

 

A 36 hour first aid course primarily designed for the urban first aid attendant but is applicable whenever the WCB OFA Regulations require certification to the OFA 2 Level.

 

Covers the basics of airway, breathing and circulation which includes how to deal with obstructed airways, breathing distress, bleeding control, Shock and one person CPR. In addition, patient assessment, hard collar application, upper limb splinting and minor wound care are covered.

 

Course fees include textbooks and Exams.

 

Written and practical exams are required after the course is completed. A minimum mark of  70% is required, on both the written and practical exams, to successfully complete the course. A 2 year certificate will be issued on successful completion.

 

Course medical required.

 

Prerequisite:  16 years of age

 

WCB Occupational First Aid Level 3  $715.00

 

A 70-hour first aid course designed with the rural or attendant in heavy industry in mind. A prerequisite for employment with the BC Ambulance Service, many ski patrols and some Fire / Police Departments.

 

Covers the basics of airway, breathing and circulation - includes how to deal with obstructed airways, breathing distress, bleeding control, Shock and one and two person CPR. In addition, continuing patient assessment, hard collar application, securing a patient to a spine board, upper and lower limb splinting and minor wound care are covered. Completion of records and reports are an integral part of the course.

 

Course fees include textbooks and Exams.

 

Written and practical exams are required after the course is completed. A minimum mark of  70% is required, on both the written and practical exams, to successfully complete the course. A 2 year certificate will be issued on successful completion.

 

Course medical required.

 

Prerequisite:  16 years of age

 

WCB Occupational First Aid Level 3  Re-Certification $515.00

 

Practical only sessions totaling 35 hours. Students must have had the WCB OFA 3 previously.. Does not include course textbooks.

 

Students for this course must present a copy of their previous OFA 3 certificate at the time of registration.

 

WCB Transportation Endorsement  $95.00

 

A one day/ 8 hour add-on course for OFA Level 1 and 2 attendants.

 

This course covers hard collar application and securing (immobilizing) a patient on the spine board in preparation for transport.

 

Prerequisite is a valid OFA Level 1 or 2 certificate. Valid for 2 years or until the expiry of the OFA Level 1 or 2 certificate. Certificates are issued at the end of the course upon successful completion.
 

**NB. if you are interested in a WCB Transportation Endorsement course, please let us know. We do not necessarily show all our classes on our schedule. Courses can be organized when we have 5 - 6 people.

 

 

WCB Oxygen Therapy  $75.00

 

A 4 hour program designed to meet the training and continuing education requirements of first responders, divers and the general public. This program can be modified to meet the needs of emergency care providers who may be required to manage patients in the pre-hospital setting. The objectives are to establish and provide guidelines in the application and use of oxygen and related delivery systems in emergency patient care situations. Skills and competence are acquired through theoretical and practical components.

 

A 2 year certificate will be issued on successful completion.

 

Prerequisite:  16 years of age and a minimum WCB OFA Level 1 certificate or equivalent.
